Traffic Jam Doesn't Matter IF

Your beloved one Smile at you, the traffic jam flies *hohoho*

I took above picture when the long traffic jam happen in front of Ambassador mall - Kuningan.
We were on our way to swim.

Mostly you can't avoid the traffic jam and I must admit that my emotion easy to burn.
Therefore I prefer to used the public transport.
But since having a kid, I feel that the public transport here is not child and mom friendly.
No choice to me now days.

Anyway, try not focus on it, cheer your day with your love one, that matter most.

Clean my Ear, Mom!

I really scare to clean Josh's ear canal.
Afraid that he might move and I hurt the eardrum and bleeding was always become my nightmare *hehehe*.
Cause that reason, I only brought the cotton which specially design for baby.

But the problem occur, even I cleaned his ear canal regularly since baby, he still try put his finger and scratch his ear.

Josh - 6 Months Old

One day, using the mini lamp, I found out that his ear canal was dirty and the eardrum almost closed. He has a dried earwax type, my guess, the more I clean it, the more I push the it further inside.
I have shared this to my friend and they suggest to visit a specialist doctor for checking, with a condition after Josh reach one year old. (I still don't know the reason why need to wait until one year old - forgot to ask the doctor *grin*).

On last September, we bring josh to specialist doctor - RS THT Bedah Prof Nizar (Jl. Kesehatan No.9 Jakarta. Phone:+62 21 3843596 or +62 21 3503435).
We came early in morning around 8.30am, and there already 5 peoples there, while the doctor shall came at 9am.
Good one, Doctor was very on time (I rarely found this nowdays).

Fyi, I can't take the picture while inside the room.
Here was the story:
I have prepare the device to distract josh attention. But according to Doctor, That no used, all children will cry. Better let them cry and done the procedure as soon as possible.
What I do, Sit on the chair, used my hand and feet holding Josh tightly.
While Josh's head hold by the assistant, and the Doctor quickly using his pin set and take it out.
Yeah, Josh do cry like crazy.
But not too long, he stop crying and feel relief.

My doctor suggest me to clean his ear canal once in a while with the small cotton swab (cover with baby oil), only the front area.
Nowdays Josh enjoying my free service - clean his ear. And he cry if i stop the activity *haiz*
Hey don't do it everyday.

Dinner time - Cajun Chicken Pizza with Cream Cheese and Apricots

After reading my other favorite blog - www.storyofbing.com and looking at the picture, I craved and decided to try out the pizza.
Easy to make, and turn out good with new flavor and so tasty for our tongue.

Last Wednesday, As daddy has a meeting outside, I invite my family member (my bro n sis) to come and join the dinner. Too bad  my sis can't attend, so only my bro n his gf, me and Josh enjoying the dinner.

You can click on this link for the recipe and also a great picture ^^: http://cooking.storyofbing.com/2010/12/cajun-chicken-pizza-with-cream-cheese-apricots/

Josh and his Lovey

Do you have a Lovey?

Josh do have it, A blanket for sure!

According to Babycenter.com, the Psychologists call them transitional objects, but baby may call "Bankie" (for blanket). Many doctors say bonding with a "lovey," a special blanket or toy, can ease a child's adjustment to new situations such as daycare.

That very true, When we have our vacation where we nee to stay at the new place, or have our first flight, I always bring his lovey - blanket, so he will calm, comfy and feel like home.
For me, it's normal for the kid to have something special, like us too - e.g. favorite sleeping suit, etc, as long as that not harm them. Someday they will change it also, so don't take it away. We may think how about the bottle (some baby so dependent on their milk bottle), of course if that need to be changed for healthy and hygiene purpose, we shall change it, even they refuse it.

We have three blankets for Josh, and I wash it regularly one by one. He always use two blanket at a time.
A lovey? Why not ^^/

Swimming Time with Toddler - Josh 15Months

+ Josh has a good nap = what a perfect moment to spent on swimming pool.

Last Saturday 15 October 2011, My sista came and join us to the pool.
Josh really love playing with water. When arrived in the pool, he want to jump into the water, thanks we hold his hand.
I let him climb the stairs up and down several time to let him body warm before get into the water.

Then,Time to have splashing swimming fun with Daddy.

Like to splash!

Happy splashing :)

Daddy teach Josh how to swim.

Some tips for a perfect swim time with toddler:

1. Make sure the weather is bright, sunny - and you get a warm water.

2. Make sure the kid is on the fit condition, after having a nap is great.

3. Get them eat a small portion of food.
Banana is great! or drink a cup of milk.

4. Don't forget to do some little exercise before swim.
Let they climb the stairs, or walking around or may be play on the playground - if possible.

5. Wear a swimsuit, put a sunblock lotion, and wear a swim glasses (Josh still refuse it).

6. Limit the time around 30 minutes or less (I do it for Josh) may be longer for the older - even the kid is playing so much fun and be consistent.
You don't want they get sick after fun.

7. Then eating after swim is always great, no fussy, no long chewing. I enjoy it so much :)
Give some food contain protein - may be mini pizza or omelet.

Enjoy!

Fall aSleep in Pram

I need to record this, because, this was the first time ever Josh fall asleep in the Pram.

Josh never like to sit in the pram and he never used to be in the pram while in Jakarta.
But it was amazing that on our long Holiday in Singapore last August, he can and Want to sat quietly on the pram. He seem to know that it was possible for us to carry him all the day or actually he might feel uncomfortable to be hold all day :p.

It was third day (24August - Wednesday), after a long day out, he was so tired and got cranky, but even so, he refused to sleep. Then we let him sat on the pram on the way walking from the MRT station to our hotel with my singing sound everywhere to calm him.
Suddenly, we notice that he was so quite and yes, he fall sleep. Arrived in hotel lift, I quickly get this shot.

And it's haven't happen again today! *sigh*

Bread and Butter Pudding

Last week, 3 October, I have made the bread and butter pudding.
Inspired from other blog - http://www.oureverydaythings.com/2011/06/making-bread-butter-pudding/, I want to try it also.

She take the recipe from Hamlyn's '200 really easy recipes' book

Here the Ingredients:

4 slices of white bread

50g unsalted butter
50g sultanas (I used the SunMaid product)
Grated rind of 1 lemon
300ml single cream + 300ml milk, or 600ml milk (I used mix of cream and milk)
2 eggs + 2 egg yolks
25g granulated sugar (I switch with white sugar, you can test it after done, if it's too sweet then just put a less sugar)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (Don't have any in home, so I skip this)
1-2 tablespoons jelly marmalade, heated (I never use this so far)

You can click on the blog website for the complete steps of making this pudding which give a good result and great picture also ^^/.
But Here the steps that I done:

1. Spread the butter into the white bread, cut into moderate piece, then place on the bowl. Sprinkle the lemon grated in between white bread slice.

2. Beat the milk, cream, egg and sugar and pour over the bread.

3. Put into the oven 180degree and wait for around 30minutes.

Below is the result - I think I only made half of the ingredient *Heh I forgot, embarrassed*. Ehmm I never follow in detail like how many bread to use cause sometime I just use the left one :p.
I only give a quarter of above pudding to Josh.
The reason I want to try this recipe cause Mom in law like to buy a lot of bread, while Dad in law like to drink lemon water everyday and throw the skin away. Before the lemon was used, I peel off the skin or make a lemon grated and left the baldy one for them to taking the water *hehehe*

The other reason why I keep repeating make it, cause Josh LOVE it so much!
He can ask more and try to use the spoon to feed him self.

P.s. don't be fool by josh's face, the way to prove he like it or not by seeing whether he want the second spoon and finish it all :p

Yeay - He finished it!

Josh's First Water Bottle, Current and Still

My mom has give a present for Josh - All in one Mag-Mag - Weaning product from Pigeon.
It's consist of 1 Mag-Mag bottle with 3 Cups : Nipple Cup, Spout Cup, Straw Cup. If you wondering how it's look like, go to http://www.pigeon.com.sg

Once Josh start his solid food around 6 months old, I used the Spout Cup for serving the water or fresh juice.

Nipple Cup is usually unused for a baby who was breastfeeding.
But Josh has his milk bottle in nipple cup when I fall sick for a week and must give the mother milk through bottle. He use to like it so much (the nipple cup) till I need to fight with him through world war 3 and 4 for make him turn back and like to breastfeed *fuih*, will share this story on another post.
Therefore, I never think to give my baby any nipple cup again, cause it's really hard to turn them back when they fall in love with the cup.

After he reach end of 8 Months old, I change to Straw Cup. First time, he get choke cause he didn't know how to stop. But he like to try it again, so I let him learn.
And Now Days, He master on this skill ^^/.
He drink milk with the Straw also.
After exercise :).

Anyer holiday - Taste the coconut water ^^/

Today, I have start to teach him how to drink from glass. Not easy and get wet all the time make me tired to change his cloth all the time *grin*.

Which one Better - it's our choice!

Last time, I open the Link from one of my favorite blog www.oureverydaythings.com, she referring to one article in Today Online - I'd rather let my kid climb a tree than play on the iPad.
Click here for the complete article: I'd rather let my kid climb a tree than play on the iPad .

After I read it, I try to see what I have already done for my lil Josh.
And the answer is, Yup, I'm just a sinner, I also like to take the easiest way to calm him *embarrassed*.

I remember that I let him play with my blackberry when we have dinner outside only to let him sit quietly on his chair. Ok, I download a children song video clip and Josh love to look and hear a song.
I remember that I let him play with iPad once in a while when he has a hard time to eat (a sore teeth) - let him playing with the hippo.

Below is the picture, just to show us how serious he was, when playing with the blackberry.
I catch this shot with the other friend for making a contrast.

BUT,
I always remind my self that the interacting process with people, with surrounding nature is more important. The article I mention above really remind me about that.
As far as I can, I always let him play around our house instead of starring at the television or other devise. Let him explore even it's mean I need to clean up his hand often, need to warn him not to eat, need to change his cloth, etc. But that's OK. I really saw the positive effect when I let him do this all. For example, when we are in the new environment, he do not hesitate to explore also, which is good for him to enrich his knowledge.

Below picture is showing us how he play in our garden.
He treat the soil same as when he play with the sand (he like to play in the beach) while actually is so different in texture.
He dig the soil with his hand, and when he found a small stone, he put inside the container.
He have fun with this activity. Yeah, you get dirty hand, dirty cloth. But sitting beside him and watch him do it over and over again, somehow it's make me feel awesome. He is God amazing creature, provided with the great consciousness and ability to learn. What we can do is, offer our hand and time to facilitate it.

Which one better, it's our choice!

P.S. In here I'm not saying that playing with the devise like Blackberry, Iphone, Ipad or watching television is wrong. The devise was a great invention and it's give a lot of usefulness also. We can't avoid it, We just need to used it wisely for teaching our kids. Cheers, ^^/

Josh hair style as of Now - 15 Months

Below picture was the early day of Josh. Look, his hair fall straightly.

After 1 Month old, we shave his hair and we found out that there was a baldy area look like letter V - victory.

Now days, below the Victory area, the hair is fall straightly, but above the Victory area, his hair is spiky similar to Lion *hehehe*. Don't know how long it's will last.

Securing the Cupboard

I live with my parent in law where all the furniture and stuff already there.
So when Josh grown up, I surely know that he will make a new daily mess in home.
Everything will be his new learning toys.
I can make my room as childproofing room where Josh can not really play with the drawer.
But not on the other room, especially kitchen and dining room.

Josh is a clever boy for me. He like a copycat.
One day he saw you do this, and the next time he will follow.

So here it is, we have a cupboard in a lower position, where we put the plate and bowl made from glass.
There is no handle in the drawer, so actually it's not easy for him to open.

But He saw all people how to open it everyday. Now he master on open and closing the cupboard.
Not funny if the plate and bowl broken everyday.
I can't lock it, cause I can't make additional key or anything to that furniture.

So here what I choose to do, I put his plastic bowl, two or three inside the drawer.

When he open it, he will search for his bowl or his stuff.

Once he search and take it, I say "Ok, done, you are smart boy, now close it, you have taken your bowl."
And it's work out ^^/. No broken plate and bowl till now.
Of course I still need to watch over and remind him.
But the most important is, I want Josh to learn, to take only belong to him and not the other.

Dinner at the Blue Elephant

We spent our weekend with Dinner at the Blue Elephant Restaurant - we are curious cause they claim that they are known as the one of the top Thai cuisine restaurant and is known for its authentic Thai taste.
And yes, the Taste is so delicious for the green duck curry, satay, chicken, the Pat thai that we have tried.

With one year old son, feel so comfortable to bring him everywhere. We surely enjoy our meal and Josh will never reject when we have a mango dessert ^^/

Price is quite affordable - not for everyday of course cause we will put into our list for the next year visit hahaha.

Here the three of us.
See how Josh look like, funny :p

Weekend, A - Fair? Why not.

Last Weekend we visiting a Mother and Baby Fair. First time for Josh also.
I think after I get pregnant till Josh was born, I never visit any Fair - I miss the Book Fair badly *sigh*.
I always borrow the Mother and Baby Magazine, so I decided to attend this Fair and wish for a child friendly environment.

And yes, I got it. Once Arrived there I see all the Information and Ticket Stand was designed with animal character which is Nice, Cute, Lovely and Kids like it.

While waiting, Josh play around the animal picture.

Josh also meet his Sunday school friend there. See how mommies pose, while kids playing each other.

Inside the exhibition area, the walking space is big enough and comfortable for family who bring stroller.
There was a kids playing area which was so good, cause I can left Josh with our maid and playing happily there, while on the other time, I can search for something to buy or just follow the seminar.
Here is the video when Josh playing.

Surely I will visit another mother and baby fair, so much comfy ^^/
