Wisata Kuliner Pematang Siantar - Our Culinary Experience

Need to clean my Draft page, even it's late, better than never ^^/.

When Calvin visit Pematang Siantar for the first time, what I offered him was "Food, Food, and Food"
May be Calvin wondering what great about the Food.
Diverse people, so the food.

If we want to visit Toba Lake - Prapat from Medan or Kualanamu Airport, we might pass Pematang Siantar and don't forget to taste the food.
The food seller on the morning usually not same with the night.

So here our culinary experience.

Day 1: Slowly Start.

1. Carrot Cake from the Horas market for Breakfast.
What made it more special was the spicy sauce. My aunt buy it for us.

2. Rainbow Noddle - Mie Pangsit Pelangi. Jl. Pane.
My Cousin open this Noddle Shop. They make the noddle them self, with natural color from carrot, bit and spinach. Ok, almost all the noddle store made the noddle them self.
The noddle in one store might have a different texture from another store.
We love our cousin noddle, they way the cook it, and the taste really suite us.
Price: IDR 12.000,- a bowl.

Later when Calvin taste the other noddle store, he said that he still love our cousin one.

3. Chinese Food Restaurant: Sehat Restaurant - Jl. Bandung. 
We ordered 3 types of dishes (hmm I always love Taoco - bean paste), rice and Teh Tong (warm tea) 
and cost you around IDR. 130.000,- (11 USD as of now).
It's famous for the chinese dishes and it's already there from my grandfather time.

We ate on the 2nd floor so don't be fool by the empty seat cause we came on the day night and before eating time.

Day 2: A Crazy Full Day for both of us.

1. Nasi Campur Ailien Jl. Pane.
One of the food that I miss the most was this food.
We wake at 6.30am and went directly to this place and so many people eat there already.
And you won't get anything if you came at 9.30am.
Price: With meat - IDR 15.000,- with Egg - IDR 11.000,-
Love the potato crisp, and we brought it, cost me IDR 30.000, one plastic bag.


2. Noddle. Mie Pangsit Aoan. From Jl. Sabang Merauke, go straight till the end of the road and turn to the left. Will see a lot of crowd on the Noddle Stall.
Price IDR 15.000,-
Oh, mention it first if you didn't want msg.

Mie Rebus. Across Coffee Kok Tong. Turn to the right from Sabang Merauke.
Price IDR 12.000,-. Oh this one is for our Aunt, but the taste is good ^^.


3. Roasted Pig. For Lunch, we headed to Simpang - along the road to Prapat - Danau Toba.
Price: IDR 25.000 for a plate of roasted pig.
We were addicted to Roasted Pig made by Bataknese. The spicy green chili together with crispy roasted pig made you eat more and more ^^. And the green mashed sweet potato leaves made it perfect too. 

4. For Snack, Miso!
We headed to Miso lestari. Hmm don't know exactly the road as our cousin took us there. There was other place eating Miso at Kandang Besar. Since I ate that place once before, so this time I tried this place.
I always like to eat Sate Kerang.

5. Nasi Uduk Papi. Jl. Simbolon. For our Dinner.
We felt full already since we ate Durian before the dinner ^^.
Eat the Nila Fish, Stingray, Eggplant, other kind of fish
I love roasted stingray, and I could say the North Sumatra offered the great taste of roasted stingray.


Our culinary still continue.

Day 3 and 4: Danau Toba

Don't forget to try Rumah Makan Asia. We ate there twice. 


Day 5-6-7 still continue

Mie Goreng acim.
cost: 5000IDR (50 cent USD) - small portion.
Buy the original one (pek cah), only noddle fried with bean sprout.
Go early morning like 6.30am, along the road, you will find one stall with so much people in line. They sold out around 9am.
I can eat 4 portion my self. 


Beef kwetiaw 333. Forgot the name of the road. Love it for night dinner or snack :p

The place known as "Tohlek" seafood restaurant. Always visit this place whenever I'm back to pematang siantar. 
To compare the sting ray, the way they cooked differently, but this time I like Rumah Papi better.

Last but not least, for afternoon snack time, sate padang, and bunch of durian will be perfect hahahaha.


We ate a lot of Durian. My uncle can choose the Durian really well. 
I think both of us almost consume 20 whole pieces of Durian during our stay.
And each durian, somehow could give you different taste, sweet bitter creamy, love love love it.
