Hymn Concert Recording - Perlukah?

P.S. Konser ini sedang dipersiapkan. Jadi kalo infonya sudah keluar, Don't forget to book your ticket.

Music from 0 Year old Son till Now

Bunch of articles or books out there written about the benefit of the Music.

I love music and like to sing just because it's calming my soul.

So when was my first time introduce music to Josh?
As soon as I knew I'm pregnant, I started to sing regularly beside talking to him in the womb.
Did he really hear that? I never knew, but I believe he felt what I have done for him.

When he born, I have committed for fully breastfeed - here, and to make me relax, I just simply sing a song during the breastfeeding moment. Did help me and beside I believe what I sing will be recorded deep down in his heart.

One article from earlychildhoodmusic wrote about there were three level of musical participation:
1. Listening to the Music
2. Singing Music
3. Actively Participating in the Music.

From my observation, Josh was now on the level 2 - singing music.
While he might be not perfectly sing, but at least he showed us his effort and likeness on singing.
When his age enough for get inside the music class, I might want to give a try for seeing whether he still interested or not.

Here another word taken from the article where I found that's very true.

"The second step of musical participation involves singing. There are many studies that prove that singing enhances academic retention. A song my children sang in their childhood included the lyrics, “Sing it and you’ll never forget it.” That is so true."

"How did you learn your ABC’s? I still walk to the filing cabinet humming, “A, B, C, D, E, F, G…” If your child is struggling trying to learn something, put it to music and sing it! There are songs that teach the colors of the rainbow in order, the months of the year, the days of the week, the Books of the Bible, etc. Be creative, write your own!"

Remember that how I teach Josh to say papa mama.

But sometime I'm also losing an idea what other song that I shall sing to Josh.
That why, I hunting a cd or dvd children music. It's really help me, especially with the song where I have forgot the lyric.

Sometime Josh could start to lalala about the next song when the song even didn't start yet, and he did guess it correctly.
Seem after he heard it several time, he got the order of the song. I was like that too when heard the cd several time.

For the Indonesia children song, I love this collection from Kak Nunuk and Friend.

Below is a classical lullaby, only a music played.

If you can sing Chinese, I love below CD.

There so many series of Wonder Kids song. One of them that I like was Hymns for Kids. Not too fast and  introduce the Hymn since early age.

Below is our favorite. The CD started to broke, since we played it most of the time :p. They sing the song with a slow speed, did help the kids get used to the lyric.

For the DVD, below is our favorite.

I did buy another cd or dvd, but again not all suit us.

Did I stop singing when I have found a dvd or cd music? Nope. That all a tool's for me to keep singing for Josh.
Why? I believe a mother is the best singer for their kids ^^. We could sing anytime, anywhere.

Other reason, I could adjust way of singing, to sing it slow, fast, repeat the word before sing, and all that seem make Josh much more understand of the song and could sing it better.

By singing, at least you being remind that Life is not flat but full of melody - high, low, fast, slow.

Sing with your kids today!

Music and Movement

According to  Music and movement wikipedia - Studies indicate a positive correlation between music lessons/participation and memory, mathematical achievement, reading ability, intelligence ratings, grades and test scores.

I conclude the music has a correlation with brain movement - mostly studied on the intelligence side.
Now, If the movement I want to talked about was bowel movement, will you believe that there any correlation between music and the brain who controlled the bowel movement?
(Just read it and you are free for not imagine it *hehehe*)

The process of defecation, or the defecation cycle, is normally a combination of both voluntary and involuntary processes with force. click to read more about signal sent to the brain and etc.

I will not telling much in detail about the bowel movement, as I'm not a doctor or medical practitioner.
I making this post just for me to remember how Josh's reaction when he was just a toddler :).

For me, Josh shall have at least one bowel movement everyday!
Why? I didn't want to have rejected on the eating time. My two cents, if your stomach get clean and digest well, then you might not refuse to swallow the food.

I always offer him to finish the process in the morning.
He has his toilet training, yet most of the time, he need to be distracted while in the process as he felt too long.
I knew many people bring book and stay long in the toilet, yet till now I never understand it. So when Josh need to be distracted or when the difficult time comes on the process, what I can do just let him watch the video with music on my blackberry.
There are several video only in my blackberry, but somehow, only one video where the music repeated which successfully make him did his bowel movement.
I made this post not because a one time cases, but this kind of scene happen almost 1year and still counting. I let him heard another music song but end up on failure to deliver the bowel movement :p.
Funny hah, but that truly happen.
Different music delivered different signal to the brain.
I guess when he heard the music, he feel relaxed and that helped on the bowel movement.

Someone might curious, and i might forget in the future what kind of the video music he watched while doing bowel movement.
A future vision video made by corning. Surprise? Yups, that not a children song.
Now, after seeing my son reaction, I can say I believe yeah, may be somewhere out there, there some people who get relaxed by some music on doing their bowel movement :p.

Anyway, have a great day :).

Twinkle - Twinkle Little Star

I never knew that Josh love the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star song, till I heard he sang it.
Then I just realized some of the toys has this song in it.

Saturday noon 6.30pm, I asked him to go with me and we passed our garden. He suddenly pointed to the sky and start to sang "twinkle twinkle". The sky look clearly and we could saw a lot of star.
For me, it like a "WOW moment", I couldn't remember if I showed him the star in the sky.
I carried him and go up to the higher place and let him enjoyed the night view longer.

Below I took a video, when he followed the song played on the youtube.
He could sing it better then the video actually (cross finger), but I could only have this one till now. Enjoy!

Christmas Time

This year is the 2nd Christmas for Josh.
He might want to touch every single decoration where he found it.

Last time, we went to Grand Indonesia, and the Christmas tree and decoration were everywhere.
As we never have a tree or any decoration in our house, so we take some picture.

P.s. Shall choose the clean Ball, then you will get shiny cling cling picture :p
Here one of the Christmas Song lyric that I like :

Composer: Jimmy and Carol Owen
Christmas isn’t Christmas ‘til it’s Christmas in your heart
Somewhere, deep inside you, is where Christmas really starts
So, give your heart to Jesus, you’ll discover when you do
That’s it Christmas, really Christmas for you.

Jesus brings warmth like a winter fire, a light like a candle’s glow
He’s waiting now to come inside, like He did so long ago
Jesus brings gifts of truth and life and makes them bloom and grow
So welcome Him with a song of joy, and when He comes you’ll know….

That Christmas isn’t Christmas ‘til it’s Christmas in your heart
Somewhere, deep inside you, is where Christmas really starts
So, give your heart to Jesus, you’ll discover when you do
That’s it Christmas, really Christmas

Christmas, really Christmas

Christmas, really Christmas for your

Amen Song

Sometime ago, I teach Josh how to say "Amen"
I quite surprise, he easily follow me saying "AaaaAaa Mien".
I also sing Amen song several time, and he gladly follow.

Happy to practice and show us he can, whenever we asked him to pray, he will folding his hand to pray.

Last sunday, on the night, I asked daddy lead us pray.
Josh happily follow us, sit n fold his hand.
Then daddy start it. Second by second flies, suddenly Josh said "aaa mienn" and walk away. *ermm*

Here what I thought, daddy never accompany Josh to Sunday school, so daddy unfamiliar praying with toddler. While Josh might think, why daddy pray so long and with no tone, he just said "amen" for finishing his purpose (showing us he can say that word).
Anyway, I hope and pray someday Josh might saying Amen faithfully to the Word of God.

Note:
Amen - Hebrew word - so be it - declaration of affirmation. (Wikipedia)

But here where I found a good explanation of what Amen means:
God told Abraham that he will has descendants as many as the stars. While at that moment, Abraham has none child. Then it's said that Abraham Believe  in God. Believe here refers to Amen.
