To arrange the schedule with Yohana (College's friend), then we decide to go on this saturday 24Sept 2011.
Monas is one of the Icon - Famous Landmark of Jakarta city.
It's near to our house, only 7minutes by Car (Hmm no traffic jam please for sure!), and 30minutes by walking.
Here the description of Monas according to http://travel.yahoo.com:
Standing at 132 meters and topped with 35 kilograms of gold.
Construction started in 1961 under President Soekarno but was not completed until 1975, under President Soeharto.
The monument houses a couple of museums.
The Freedom Hall depicts Indonesia's struggle for independence through a series of dioramas, whereas the Hall of Contemplation displays the original Declaration of Independence document and a recording of the speech.
An elevator takes one to the observation platform, which commands a bird's-eye view of the city scape.
Admission is free.
Wow, the total current gold prices is around US$2million, Good it's hanging up there *grin*.
Many people spend time with family or group meeting or event a large event can be held there.
Remember the National Easter Convocation Indonesia 2005 held open in the Monas.
Our first plan is seeing the fountain from near - there are two fountain near the street in front door of Monas - West side area.
One is an usual rounded fountain, while the other one is more interesting, there are horses and Kereta Kencana Arjuna Wiwaha which showering by water.
See, Josh enjoy the fountain without notice to the camera *smile*
2nd plan, meeting Yohana, then sitting near the stone area intended for Foot Massage and let's Josh walking around.
When you walk to the foot massage area, you can find a Deer. Not many, but interesting for kid to see the animal from near.
Last year, when Josh is 4months old, I remember not many people selling food inside the park area, but today is a lot. They not selling like snack or dried food, but they sell rice and the veggie and put on the floor.
Josh is starring at the food. I don't know whether he is hungry or wondering why food is place on the floor or other *smile*, but he can stand there around 5 minutes.
Josh is really enjoy walking around.
After a long walking, Josh feel thirsty and sleepy.
So here is our way to spend Saturday morning - Cheap and Fun. You shall try one day.
Tips:
1. Early morning is better - you can breathe a fresh air. Many people still smoke in the open area, try to avoid it.
2. Bring water and food with you. You can still buy the water but the price will much more expensive. You can't count on the food, afraid you might have stomach ache if your usual food is too clean *hehehe*.
3. If you bring car, Just park on the parking area. Many places there, don't park on the side street area.
You can also going there by Taxi, by Busway - stop at the Monas station or by Bus (depend on where you came from) or even you can go by Train - stop at Gambir station.
